ROCK n ROLL GYPSIES


Rock n Roll Gypsies are the live band that play songs from the 'Sex Drugs & HIV' album. Fronted by Mat Sargent the band has an ever changing line-up and guest musicians.

Rock n Roll Gypsies prototype band started in 1995 with Mat Sargent (Sham 69/Chelsea), Andy Reed (Chelsea/RDF), Mat Prichard (Spanner Man). This line-up played around 20 shows and included floating members; Roly Wynne (Ozric Tentacles) and Wally Nightingale (The Swankers/Sex Pistols) .

Rock n Roll Gypsies played at Chislehurst Caves in 2000 and the line-up consisted of Mat Sargent, Wurzel (Motorhead), Seaweed (Ozric Tentacles), Leo Smee (Cathedral) and Stuart Soulsby (Chelsea). The show was filmed and recorded live as part of a documentary for the Sex Drugs & HIV project.

Gypsies # 2 line-up consisted of Mat Sargent, Monique Maasen (B Bang Cider), Tracey Lamb (Rock Goddess/Girschool), Smeggy Clay (Juicey Lucy) and Richy Stone (Splodge). This line-up played around 10 shows including Rebellion Festival 2006 and recorded a version of Babylon for a tribute album to Paul Fox (The Ruts).

Gypsies # 3 consisted of Mat Sargent, Monique Maasen, Richy Stone, Noel Hendrick (Splodge), Ronny Rocka (Godfathers/Angelic Upstarts) and  Robin Guy (Sham 69) on drums.
