On 23rd May 2013, David Bowie's LEGENDARY bass player Trevor Bolder passed away. He was an inspiration to millions of musicians all over the world, and, along with fellow band members Mick Ronson, Woody Woodmansey, and of course David Bowie, he completed one of the most fabulous line-ups in Rock n' Roll history ...
"ZIGGY STARDUST and the SPIDERS FROM MARS"
Superbly talented, and a lovely person, a great friend and producer, and one of the GREATEST bass players in the world. He has left a huge legacy and is so sadly missed, however his work will live on forever.
Here are some pictures of he and I working on our Album "DANCING WITH SPIDERS".
All the recordings on "DANCING WITH SPIDERS" are of Trevor Bolder and myself, mostly at his studio at home or at Andy Newlove's "Fairview Studios" in Hull, (Paris or maybe Hull?) with a FANTASTIC engineer called John Spence.
You see, unlike many others, he always believed in what I was trying to achieve so even when all the other "so-called" musicians, producers and friends had fucked off because there was no more money left to take off me, Trevor stuck by me.
Trevor Bolder always stuck by me and my music, finishing off and mastering all my tracks, plus producing many more such as "LADY ROCKER" and the rest of "DANCING WITH SPIDERS" album.
After Trevor died my record manager and producer Mike Harris at LITTLE LONDON RECORDS has put together this GREAT album for you, which is a complete collection of our work and his influence.
Just like his former band members, Mick Ronson and David Bowie, Trevor Bolder was a pioneer, to whom Art meant so much more than money.
Guitarist Mick Ronson had produced Billy Idol when he started his own band "GENERATION X" years earlier, and there has always been a strong bond between Bowie's ZIGGY STARDUST, The SPIDERS, and PUNK !!!!
So it was inevitable and also a natural progression that this collaboration would work perfectly on STEVIE ZeSUICIDE material …
and now with Mike & Terri Harris of "TaM MANAGEMENT" on board the package is complete.
The LAST PICTURE
I took this picture shortly before Trevor became ill. It features the FAMOUS Gibson SG Bass that he used on ALL the Bowie's ZIGGY albums and singles from "SPACE ODDITY" to "REBEL REBEL" to "THE JEAN GENIE" to "STARMAN" (check out the Top Of The Pops performance) and the albums "HUNKY DORY", "ALADDIN SANE", "PIN UPS" and of course "THE RISE AND FALL Of ZIGGY STARDUST and the SPIDERS FROM MARS".
